How do I compare two JSON files?

Diff view puts two versions of a JSON document side by side, with removed lines on the left, added lines on the right and the exact characters that changed highlighted inside each line. The sample above compares two versions of the same config so you can see how it looks.

To compare your own JSON, press Diff to leave the comparison, paste the first version, then press Diff again. That snapshot becomes the left side, and anything you paste or type on the right is compared against it as you go.

  1. Press Diff to close the sample comparison, then paste your first version.
  2. Press Diff to snapshot it as the left side.
  3. Paste the second version on the right.

Questions people ask

Does key order matter?

Yes, the comparison is line by line, so the same keys in a different order show up as changes. Formatting both versions the same way first keeps the noise down.

Can I edit the left side?

The left side is a read only snapshot. Press Diff twice to take a fresh snapshot of whatever is in the editor now.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No, this runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you paste is sent to a server. The only feature that sends data anywhere is the optional AI assistant, and only when you actually ask it something.
